Damballah, also Danbala Wedo in Haitian Creole, comes in the form of a snake. He is the father of all the Lwa and is associated with Saint Patrick or Saint Moses. Moses worked with snakes extensively and has access to the Holy of Holies, while Damballah is the Holy of Holies. He is the most sacred of all the Lwa and is a pure spirit. He brings the feeling of peace throughout a temple when he enters. His food is a white egg on white flour. His day is Thursday, and his color is white.
One can use a decorated boutey or bottle as a devotional altar piece for a particular loa, orisha, ancestor, or spirit. This bottle would be perfect for Damballah, and you can put petitions in it for him.
This bottle is hand made by a talented artist and Haitian Vodou initiate. Each decoration, bead, or sequin is added, one at a time, until the bottle is completed. This bottle is both beautiful and spiritual. It is a lovely addition to any home or collection.
It measures approximately 26” x 20”.
